WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – (October 10, 2017): The Pinnacle Group, Inc., in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., received three major awards during the 58th Annual Home Builders Association of West Virginia Convention at Nemacolin Woodland Resort on Saturday, October 7.
When the Best of West Virginia Building Awards were handed out at the prestigious banquet, The Pinnacle Group, Inc., took home the awards for Best Single Family Class III, Best Single Family Class V and Best Commercial Remodeling Project.
The three awards for 2017 bring The Pinnacle Group, Inc., total to six. The company won in 1998 for Best Single Family Home Class V, and in 2004 it took home Best Commercial Remodeling Project and Best Single Family Home Class VI.
“The contest is judged by your peers,” said Tony Mamone, President, The Pinnacle Group, Inc. “There’s no outside influence. You submit your entry and it goes before a Board of Builders at the Charleston office. These awards are hard to come by, and they’re coveted. We’re extremely proud to be honored with three awards this year.”
The Best Single Family Class III award came for a home in Oak Hollow at The Greenbrier Sporting Club. The 2,300-square-foot home features materials that came from trees removed from the property. Those materials were used to fabricate wood beams, ceilings and floors that make the home not only beautiful, but also unique.
“We were able to use the materials from on site to create some beautiful interior features,” said Mamone. “That makes this property special.”
The Best Single Family Class V award came for a home on White Sulphur Hill, also part of The Greenbrier Sporting Club. The more than 3,000-square-foot home, owned by Doug and Molly Compton, was completely designed and built by The Pinnacle Group, Inc. The two-story home includes a custom interior made from reclaimed material from Greenbrier County and throughout Southern West Virginia. The breakfast area is made from wormy chestnut harvested from old barns and buildings around the area, and the floors are made from red oak and white oak, also harvested from the area.
“Even the doors were made right in our shop,” said Mamone. “This home has a very, very special place in the vernacular of this part of the country.”
The third award for Best Commercial Remodeling Project came for the Greenbrier County VA Clinic on Shamrock Lane in Ronceverte. After the clinic in Lewisburg was forced to shut down, The Pinnacle Group, Inc., went to work on remodeling a building in Ronceverte to house the clinic in quick fashion. The project started in January, and in July, a Grand Opening was celebrated.
“They were dedicated to making a first-class clinic that was centrally located, with good parking, well lit and functionally staffed,” said Mamone of the new facility, which is now being used as a pattern for other VA clinics of similar size across the country. “It has all the correct furnishings and wide hallways to accommodate handicapped patients and was put together very professionally.”
The Pinnacle Group, Inc., built its first home in 1976 and has been constructing homes around Southern West Virginia and beyond since. It built its first home for The Greenbrier Sporting Club in 2001 and has now built 84 homes for the private equity club.
“That’s a long time to be a home builder in the state of West Virginia,” said Mamone from his corporate office in White Sulphur Springs, the old Bank of White Sulphur building on Main Street, which was built in 1928 and earned The Pinnacle Group, Inc., an award for Best Commercial Remodeling Project in 2004. “We’ve operated as a family business since the beginning and had a tremendous relationship with our clients. We’re very proud of that record.
“We want to recognize our employees, who really do the work. I’m just kind of the face. The people out there in the field that come to work every day are great craftsman. We want to pat those guys on the back. Our administration staff and our suppliers and subcontractors are also important.”
